One of my favorite things about being a Los Angeles maternity, newborn, and baby milestone photographer is having the opportunity to walk alongside families through some of life’s most meaningful moments. From pregnancy to welcoming a newborn and celebrating a first birthday, these seasons pass quickly, and preserving them through beautiful portraits allows families to relive them for years to come.
I recently had the privilege of photographing Liberté Chan’s journey into motherhood – from her maternity session to baby Mila’s newborn portraits and now her first birthday celebration. Watching this beautiful family grow has been one of the greatest joys of my work and a wonderful reminder of why I love documenting every stage of a family’s story.
Los Angeles Maternity Photography with Liberté Chan
As a Hollywood Hills photographer, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph Liberté Chan, the meteorologist for CBS News in Los Angeles. Not only is Liberté a respected television personality, but she also hosts her YouTube channel, Life of Liberté, where she shares travel, wellness, lifestyle, and yoga content with her audience.
For her maternity session, we wanted simple, timeless, and elegant images that would celebrate both her beauty and the anticipation of welcoming her baby girl. We focused on soft, natural light, flattering posing, and classic styling that would never feel trendy or dated. The session was relaxed and joyful, and we even included her beloved pup for a personal touch.
Many of my maternity clients tell me they feel nervous about being photographed while pregnant. My goal is always to create an experience where moms feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful while preserving this once in a lifetime chapter in a meaningful way.
Newborn Photography for Baby Mila
A few months later, I had the honor of welcoming Liberté and her newborn daughter Mila for their newborn photography session.
Newborn sessions are some of my favorites because they capture details that change almost overnight -the tiny fingers, sleepy expressions, delicate features, and the overwhelming love that fills the room when parents meet their baby. My full service newborn experience is designed to be easy and stress free for parents. I provide wraps, props, styling, and gentle guidance throughout the session so families can simply relax and enjoy the experience.
The resulting portraits beautifully documented the beginning of this new chapter for their family and created keepsakes that will be treasured for generations.
Celebrating Mila’s First Birthday
One of the greatest gifts of being a baby photographer is having the opportunity to see families return year after year. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Mila’s first birthday milestone session.
It hardly seems possible that the tiny newborn I photographed is already one year old. First birthday sessions are such a special way to celebrate a baby’s first year and capture the personality, curiosity, and joy that emerge during this stage. These sessions create lasting memories while documenting just how much your little one has grown.

Beyond the portraits themselves, it has been incredibly meaningful to watch Liberté grow into motherhood and use her experiences to support other families.

I feel incredibly privileged not only to have documented Liberté’s journey into motherhood but also to watch her develop such an amazing resource for other moms and their children. Her work was recently featured in LA Living Magazine, recognizing the positive impact she is making in helping families build connection, mindfulness, and wellness together.
